NMS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS IN THE COMMUNITY

JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER OF GREATER NEW HAVEN
NMS faculty members offer instrumental instruction for children and adults Monday through Thursday at the local JCC. Instruction is open to the general public with separate member and nonmember fees set by the JCC. Days of instruction follow the JCC after-school program calendar.

CITY-WIDE: MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOLS
Each spring NMS works with the New Haven Public Schools Music Program to identify middle and high school children who would benefit from NMS Summer Band and Jazz Intensive programs and to provide financial aid for those who need assistance.
AMISTAD ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL, COOPERATIVE ARTS & HUMANITIES MAGNET SCHOOL
NMS provides supplemental private instrument lessons for selected students at Amistad and in Co-op’s Music Program.
WEXLER-GRANT AND DAVIS STREET INTERDISTRICT MAGNET SCHOOL
NMS offers weekly instrumental instruction for students at Davis Street and Wexler-Grant Schools through the NMS Instrumental Impact Program.
Arts PACK
A Saturday music and visual arts program for children and parents from New Haven’s Hill Neighborhood. NMS collaborates with Creative Arts Workshop in the PACK (Parents & Communities for Kids) Program,
funded by The Wallace Foundation, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, The Graustein Memorial Fund and the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY
NMS offers a music class for adult residents of area UCP group homes to teach the fundamentals of music through ensemble singing and the use of
Orff-Schulwerk instruments.
NEIGHBORHOOD PLACE (Yale Child Study Center)
L.E.A.P. (LEADERSHIP, EDUCATION & ATHLETICS IN PARTNERSHIP)
NMS provides classes for groups of students at these and other community organizations– Afro-Caribbean drumming, dance workshops, singing classes and more.
